We completed photography for the 2010 Cleveland Clinic calendar in mid-November and I could not wait to share it! What a fabulous project. CCF graphic designer Anne Drago’s concept was just the challenge for Taxel Image Group to wrap up this year. We started with a list of fifteen ‘wellness’ programs for Cleveland Clinic employees and patients that Anne wished to represent with striking, creative photography.
After some intense brainstorming and scouting, we narrowed the list down to twelve programs and proceeded to photograph everything from fitness equipment to blackberries, and from measuring tape, electrocardiogram leads, running shoes and artichokes to a waterfall, nicotine gum, acupuncture needles, hands, yoga mats, and colanders. We attempted to photograph each subject from a unique and unexpected perspective while creating visual patterns of color, shape, and light.
Best Wishes for a wonderful holiday season!

On September 21st, just three days before the Pittsburgh G-20 Simon Taxel and I spent several hours walking downtown Pittsburgh, PA. The pre-G20 energy was building with alternating bands of anarchists and law enforcement officials reconnoitering the streets surrounding the Convention Center. While our conversation covered a wide range of topics, my camera (my inner camera, that is) was drawn to the wonderful sense of place that Pittsburgh possesses.
